Today Maindy Park is dominated by the concrete Velodrome, originally built for the 1956 Commonwealth Games. This has been a nurturing ground for huge numbers of young cyclists over the years, and has produced Olympic and World champions and famously the first Welsh winner of the Tour de France, our own Geraint Thomas.
It is also home to junior and community based cycling and triathlon clubs, where children of any age can try out the sport in their own locality.
